Galluping Grace Pumpkin Patch
The Galloping Grace Youth Ranch (GGYR) Pumpkin Patch has fun fall activities for kids! They also have a TON of pumpkins and gourds for sale in every size, shape, and color. All sales benefit their amazing programs for youth in central New Mexico that focuses on livestock, agriculture, and education about food recovery.
The "record breaking" GGYR Pumpkin Patch is a fun place to take a family with little ones. Record breaking for the most pumpkins carved at once, that is!
Though the patch is located at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho (not at their Rio Rancho ranch), the GGYR organization does a fantastic job making you feel as though you are visiting an actual farm. There are huge friendly hay bales galore and pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere! And are there animals? Yes! You will see goats, pigs, and a tortoise to name a few.
Want to decorate your front porch for fall? GGYR sells a package that includes hay and corn stalks. This one stop sidetrack will get your family in the fall mood the minute you walk through the gates.
Our kids have fond memories playing at the patch when they were small. This is a great experience for families who may want to pick out their pumpkins and gourds (affordable too!), as well as spend some fun family time making memories. They also welcome large groups and this is a perfect fall field trip destination.
You will find a slide, hay maze, corn pit, pumpkin bowling area, toy tractor derby, scarecrow, pumpkin dress-up station, rubber duck races, and lots more! Each year they do a great job adding additional fun things for the little ones to do. They offer field trips as well. Outside snacks and drinks are permitted, as well. I always appreciate the abundant shade and picnic tables scattered throughout the grounds as October can be sunny and very warm.
There is a relaxed atmosphere at the patch and the staff is always friendly and helpful! There are lots of great fall themed backdrops to photograph your kids, so don't forget your cameras. There are even wagons you can borrow to tote your kids and pumpkins back to the car.
You cannot beat this fun and affordable outing for the family. I guarantee your little ones will have a great time and you can feel good your money is going to a great cause. We love to see all the new things they add each year to this ever growing patch.
GGYR is a non-profit organization and their profits from the patch fund their youth programs all year long. Like many other families we know, you may consider making a visit to the GGYR patch more than once each October!
